Thick And Fast

Is there any reason to be glum again following yesterday’s defeat? Of course not.

With the schedule we’ve had and the form of our opposition, yesterday was always going to be a tough ask. And though we didn’t score, we did create chances, which is more than can be said for several of our fruitless trips to the north-west. As many others have pointed out, perhaps our superhuman efforts against Juventus caught up with us.

Football is about winning and losing, and all you can ask for is that your team puts in some effort and plays some good football. We did both of those yesterday.

So how will Wenger combat fatigue, given we’re playing again on Wednesday, then on Saturday, then the Wednesday again, then the Saturday, then the Tuesday… (I think you get the picture).

There’ll surely be some squad rotation, which means Campbell on Wednesday, plus some others who we can only speculate about. Could Eboue do with a rest? It looked like it yesterday, which could mean Gilbert too. Clichy is back in full training too, but I suspect Wednesday is too soon for him.

Happy Monday, fellow gooners.
