Very late match report scrapped, this rubbish instead

Well, I wrote a whole blog entry following our fantastic win on Saturday evening, then in the giddy excitement of the occasion (there may have been some white and red booze involved too), I promptly forgot to post it. When I did remember to do so on Sunday, it was way too late. I had been employed by Mrs Goat to perform numerous chores, none of them pleasant ones, and then, well, that was that for Sunday. Then along came today to get in the way. So here I am tonight, and as soon as the merest slither of a window became available for me to write a big pile of tosh, I needed no second invitation.

We’re totally in the zone at the minute, and I love it. It was one of those weeks where everything came together gloriously, which is why we’re sitting back now, not giving a hoot about the transfer window, enjoying ourselves. Of course, Sunday sees us up against the league leaders, and (perhaps dangerously, and definitely unusually for me), I’m confident. It’s a perilous place to be for a man whose glass tends to be half empty, but there you have it. It should be a humdinger of a game, and as yet the build-up has been mindgame free. I can’t see how that will last though.

But with us 15 points off the pace, the team with the most pressure on it to get a result is not ours. What effect that has, psychologically, remains to be seen and depends a bit on what the Russians do the day before.

So, as an aside, I was wondering today whether Henry can overhaul the two top league scorers this year – Dogbra and O’Ronald. The Dogbra has notched 14 league goals this season, and Henry is some way back on 8 (from 13 starts). But he too is in the zone, and has scored three times in the three games since coming back from injury. His goal on Saturday was plucked from page one of his very own manual of top goals. Brilliant it was.

Things are bubbling along nicely.
