Hold on – anyone know the rules for the Champions League third-qualifying round draw?

Can we be drawn against anyone? If yes, then we’ve got to seriously hope we get Cork City and not AC Milan (with no disrespect to Cork City meant – but I think you know what I mean).

Better still would be a draw against MyPa. Eleven professional footballers versus me dad – only one winner.

It’s so early that form doesn’t really come into it – which can be a blessing or a burden, I suppose. But it does mean we really have to hit the ground running, because the experience of previous English sides to have fallen at the first hurdle is that, if you crash out, it can really knock the wind out your sails in the early part of the season.

I don’t fancy that much.
