The Start Of Something Good Or A Bump Back To Earth?

“I’m not bitter about the fact younger players are not getting a chance at Arsenal. To be honest, I didn’t really enjoy my day-to-day life at Arsenal”, says ex-gooner Dave Bentley.

Just about the silliest thing you could say that, isn’t it? Fabregas, Eboue, Gilbert, Diaby, Clichy, van Persie, Adebayor, Lupoli etc etc – the list is as long as my arm. I wish him well, I’d rather he stayed, but I don’t think he’s right: this season will be remembered, I suspect, primarily for exactly that. The season Wenger played young players. There is an argument I suppose as to why English players are less popular with Mr W, but even that’s being disproved with the purchase of Walcott and the emergence of Gilbert. Anyway, enough on that, I just hope the man in question doesn’t knock a hat-trick in against us and make us all look like fools.

Clearly, it’s not going to be easy today, what with the delightful Lily and the loveable Craig in their team, but it’s time to show that when we need to be, we can stick it in a bit.

Stick it in a bit then lads.

Arsenal since about 1979. Thick, thin and all that.
