13 In A Row – Lucky For Some!

So how about that: Up to second place. Such is the way this season has begun that I’ve not really contemplated the table at all – we’ve been hovering around below the Champions League places – but all of a sudden, after three straight wins, we’re sitting neatly behind the runaway leaders.

Well, I say neatly. We’re still eleven points behind them (with our away game in hand away to Liverpool), so there’s not much point getting over-excited about overhauling them.

Yesterday’s game was an odd one indeed. Three exquisite goals – they really were, especially the last – yet Blackburn had much of the possession and at times, especially in the first half, we struggled to get out of our half at all. Too often we’d win the ball only to give it straight back, and while we weren’t punished for it yesterday, we’ll need to retain the ball better during our next home league game.

Poor old oft-maligned Pascal Cygan, pace aside, was pretty solid yesterday, as was the defence as a whole, but they had to work for that clean sheet.

So 100 goals at Highbury for Henry, 13 straight home wins, 13 points from the last 15 – things are looking good.

Oh, and a quick word about Robbie Savage before I go. His feeble attempt to get Reyes sent off by falling to the ground clutching his face was as laughable as it was embarrassing. Truly pathetic.

Happy Sunday, one and all.
